Cyprus Digital Nomad Visa: How to Apply in 2025

Last Updated on 1 April 2025 by Brittany

Update: Cyprus digital nomad visas have reopened as of March 26, 2025, allowing remote workers and their family members to live in the country for up to two years.

Remote workers and entrepreneurs can now live on a gorgeous Mediterranean island with the new Cyprus digital nomad visa.

Holders of the visa must stay in Cyprus for at least six months and one day out of the year without leaving the country for more than three months at a time to keep their residence permit valid.

If you live in Cyprus for more than 183 days out of the year, you will be considered a tax resident, even if you hold the digital nomad visa. You’ll be subject to paying taxes to Cyprus unless you are a tax resident elsewhere.

Don’t let this scare you, though. Cyprus is known for its excellent tax rates, especially for corporations and small businesses.

Applicants may bring their spouse and dependents with them to Cyprus on the digital nomad visa.

Cyprus, which is part of the European Union but is not part of the Schengen Area, joins other EU countries in offering a digital nomad visa including Croatia, the Czech Republic, Malta, Portugal, Spain, Greece, Hungary, and Estonia

What is a Digital Nomad Visa?

A digital nomad visa is a residence permit for remote workers to live in a foreign country anywhere from six months to two years.

Applicants must prove that they work remotely for a company or clients outside of the country for which they are requesting the visa. Entrepreneurs must have businesses established in another country and self-employed individuals may not have clients within the country where they hold the visa.

This is perfect for digital nomads who want to settle down for a bit in a foreign country without worrying about overstaying their tourist visas.

Cyprus Digital Nomad Visa Requirements

As with any visa, there are certain requirements you must meet in order to be eligible to obtain it. Below are the requirements for the Cyprus digital nomad visa
