How does working remotely in the Caribbean in front of white sandy beaches for a couple of years sound to you? With the Antigua and Barbuda digital nomad visa, this dream could now become your reality!

Back in 2020 with the sharp increase in remote working opportunities and models, Antigua and Barbuda introduced their own version of a digital nomad visa. They dubbed it the Nomad Digital Residence Visa.ย

The Antigua and Barbuda digital nomad visa allows remote workers to live on the islands for two years. The process is also extremely easy as itโ€™s all done online and has just a few requirements to apply.

Applicants can also bring their family members and even their pets with them to Antigua and Barbuda too.

The Caribbean has plenty of opportunities for digital nomads to come live and work remotely. Other digital nomad visas available in the area include Barbados and Anguilla.

In this article, weโ€™ll go over the requirements and steps to apply for the Antigua and Barbuda digital nomad visa to better prepare you for your next digital nomad chapter.

What is a Digital Nomad Visa?

Before getting into the details of this specific digital nomad visa, we should first define what a digital nomad visa is.

A digital nomad visa allows remote workers to live in a foreign country. It is a short-term residence permit that can last anywhere from one to two years.

To be considered a remote worker, you must be an employee of or own a company located outside of the country youโ€™re applying or be self-employed working for clients from a different country.

Each country has different requirements and benefits associated with its digital nomad visas. Some require you to pay local income tax while others do not.

Antigua and Barbuda Digital Nomad Visa Requirements

As with every digital nomad visa, there are specific requirements you must meet to be eligible for the visa. Below are the requirements for the Antigua and Barbuda digital nomad visa.

  • Valid Passport – Your passport must be valid for the duration of your visa
  • Earn $50,000 per year – You must meet the income requirement for both years of the visa
  • Work Remotely – You must be employed by or own a company outside of Antigua and Barbuda or be self-employed
  • 18+ Years of Age – You must be over the legal age of 18
  • Health Insurance – Your insurance must cover incidents in Antigua and Barbuda
  • Clean Criminal Record – You must be able to show a clean criminal record

If you meet these requirements, then youโ€™re eligible to move on to the application for our Antigua and Barbuda digital nomad visa.

Steps to Apply

The application process for the Antigua and Barbuda digital nomad visa is fairly easy as itโ€™s all done online. Below is a step-by-step guide on how to apply.

Step 1: Gather Documents

Before you sit down and start filling out your application, you should gather the necessary documents. These documents should be in English and some may need to be notarized.

Antigua and Barbuda for Digital Nomads

If you would label yourself as a beach bum, then Antigua and Barbuda is just the place youโ€™ve been searching for. With over 300 beautiful sandy Caribbean beaches, you will never run out of places to lounge after a day of working.

Antigua and Barbuda, while previously a vacation destination, is becoming more popular amongst digital nomads who want to escape the cold winters and live in year-round sunshine and warm weather.

It isnโ€™t all beaches and yacht harbors, though. Some of the most popular places to stay include small cities like St. Johnโ€™s and Saint Philip. However, if youโ€™re looking for something smaller and more tranquil, English Harbour Town may be the place for you.

Life is pretty quiet on Antigua and Barbuda. Of course, there are plenty of outdoor activities to keep you busy as well as shopping, nightclubs, and great restaurants to try delicious local food. You will even find cafes with free wifi where you can set up your laptop and spend a few hours working.
