Argentina Digital Nomad Visa: What We Know [May 2022]
Last Updated on 22 April 2024

There may be a new top digital nomad destination in South America with the new Argentina digital nomad visa. After a decrease in tourism due to the pandemic, Argentina is now focusing on attracting remote workers to the country.
The government hopes to welcome digital nomads to the capital, Buenos Aires, to take advantage of their affordable cost of living, large coworking culture, and experience their beautiful country.
The country plans to bring this convenience and hospitality over to the Argentina digital nomad visa.
[Updated May 2022] The visa will be valid for six months with the option to renew. Therefore, you can stay in Argentina for up to one year.
Argentina is the second country in Latin America, other than Brazil, to introduce a digital nomad visa. Hopefully, more countries in the area will jump on board and welcome digital nomads as well.
What is a Digital Nomad Visa?
A digital nomad visa is a temporary residence permit allowing remote workers to live in a country for a specific amount of time.
These remote workers can be freelancers, employees, or business owners. As long as they are not working for a company from the country they hold the digital nomad visa for, theyโre eligible.
Some digital nomad visas require holders to pay local taxes, while others simply offer them a place to live for six months to two years. Many visas are renewable, while others have a strict one-time issuance.
Each country has its own rules and requirements for its digital nomad visas. So, itโs important to do your research on individual visas to see if youโre eligible.
A digital nomad visa is perfect for those digital nomads who want to settle down abroad for a little while and really get to know the country where theyโre living.
Argentina Digital Nomad Visa Requirements
We are still waiting to hear about the requirements you must meet to be eligible for the Argentina digital nomad visa.
However, Hernรกn Vanoli, the Director of Inprotour said, โWe are trying to be as flexible as possible with the requirements because we know that we must try to reduce barriers. And we are putting together the entire package of benefits that will include internet connection, and probably discounts on lodging and internal flights.โ
You can most likely expect there to be an income requirement and need for health insurance and a clean criminal record as well as a valid passport.

Argentina for Digital Nomads
There is truly something for everyone in Argentina. From tropical climates in the north to cold gusts of polar winds in the south, you can find exactly what youโre looking for in the second-most visited country in Latin America.
The main city where digital nomads gather is the capital Buenos Aires. A modern and bustling city, there are plenty of restaurants and cafes, tango dancing events, and a strong coworking culture amongst the cityโs residents. The wifi is also fairly reliable and strong, which is essential for remote workers.
If youโre searching for a more natural place away from the hectic atmosphere of a major city, you can reside in Mendoza or Cรณrdoba. These towns offer a calmer lifestyle surrounded by nature, colonial architecture, and local Argentinian wine.
The low cost of living is another major selling point for digital nomads in Argentina. However, due to inflation and the exchange rate of the Argentinian peso, it can be difficult to budget appropriately due to constantly changing values.
All-in-all, Argentina is one of the best destinations for digital nomads in South America. With reliable wifi, a thriving capital city to network, and unique experiences such as hiking the Andes Mountains or embracing Argentinaโs culture, itโs no mystery why digital nomads love this country so much.
