You can now live and work remotely from this small tropical country with the Belize digital nomad visa

Known as the Work Where You Vacation program, Belizeโ€™s digital nomad visa allows remote workers to have temporary residency and live in the country for six months with the possibility to extend it.

This is excellent news for those who love the climate, views, and food, as most nationalities can only stay for 30 days in Belize without a visa.

Applicants can bring their families to Belize with them and children will have access to the local school system.

Not only can remote workers benefit from the Belize digital nomad visa by staying for an extended amount of time, but they may also participate in organized activities and receive discounts

Belize is quickly becoming a popular destination for digital nomads, especially because English is an official language. This makes it easy to communicate and navigate your way throughout the country.

Other countries in Central and South America that offer digital nomad visas include Brazil, Argentina, and Mexico

What is a Digital Nomad Visa?

A digital nomad visa allows remote workers to receive temporary residency in a foreign country.

Typically, these visas last anywhere from six months to one year, with some coming with the possibility to renew them.

You must work remotely as either an employee of a company, own a business, or freelance with clients outside of the country where you wish to hold the visa.

Obtaining a digital nomad visa does not allow you to seek employment in the country.

Digital nomad visas are excellent options for those who donโ€™t want to travel to a new country every month. Instead, they can settle down temporarily and truly get to know a destination.

Belize for Digital Nomads

While small, Belize offers great opportunities to digital nomads who find themselves in this incredible country. Perfect for nature lovers and adventure enthusiasts, you will surely never get bored with the gorgeous natural views Belize has to offer.

Home to the second-largest barrier reef in the world, you can count on spending your days swimming in the ocean, snorkeling, or lounging on one of the most beautiful beaches in the world.

Explore the areaโ€™s history by visiting ancient Mayan sites or trekking through the jungle. There really is something for every digital nomad here!

Many digital nomads find themselves in Caye Caulker, an island just a few miles from the coast of Belize. With friendly residents and a laidback lifestyle, itโ€™s difficult to imagine a life before coming to Belize.

Digital nomads will find a handful of coworking spaces and plenty of cafes with free wifi throughout the country. However, wifi may be spotty at times, so we do recommend getting a global hotspot or local SIM card.
