Seychelles Digital Nomad Visa: How to Apply [3 Steps]

Last Updated on 12 September 2024 by Brittany

You can now work remotely from one of 115 islands in the Indian Ocean with white sandy beaches, colorful coral reefs, and lush rainforests with the Seychelles digital nomad visa

Officially known as the Workcation Retreat Program, the Seychelles digital nomad visa was introduced in April 2021.

The visa is valid for one year, allowing digital nomads to explore these east African islands and soak in the gorgeous sunshine. The visa is not renewable.

The Seychelles digital nomad visa also exempts digital nomads from paying local income tax. This is excellent news as digital nomads can save hundreds of dollars during their year living in Seychelles.

Seychelles joins other African islands, such as Mauritius and Cape Verde, in welcoming digital nomads with these unique remote worker visas.

In this article, we will look at the Seychelles digital nomad visa requirements and how to apply for the visa.

What is a Digital Nomad Visa?

Before we dive into the specifics of the Seychelles digital nomad visa, let’s first determine what a digital nomad visa is.

A digital nomad visa is a temporary residence permit allowing remote workers to live in a foreign country while earning an income from their computer.

These visas do not allow digital nomads to seek local employment as they must support themselves with their remotely earned income.

Most digital nomad visas are valid for one year and can be renewed. Some digital nomad visas lead to permanent residency if you meet other qualifications.

All-in-all, a digital nomad visa allows remote workers to temporarily relocate to a foreign country and enjoy a new lifestyle.

Seychelles for Digital Nomads

The Republic of Seychelles is made up of 115 beautiful green islands located in the Indian Ocean. The capital of Seychelles is Victoria and is located on Mahé Island. It is an excellent destination for digital nomads who want to be in the center of things and have convenient travel access to other islands.

With pristine beaches, clear waters, and lush forests, the Seychelles islands are perfect for digital nomads looking for a warm and tropical environment. If you’re looking to get the stereotypical photo working on the beach with your laptop, then Seychelles is the place to do it.

The cost of living in Seychelles can be a bit pricey. So, before applying for the Seychelles digital nomad visa, it’s important to budget and verify that you can support yourself with your current remote income.

You will find some cafes that offer free wifi for you to set up your workspace for a few hours in the more populated cities. Otherwise, it’s a good idea to find accommodations with a comfortable work environment.
