What is the Greece Digital Nomad Visa?
Greece officially welcomed remote workers to live in the country for at least one year with the Greece digital nomad visa.
There are two length of stay options you can choose from:

Immediate family members may join the main applicant in Greece. And after living full-time in Greece for five years, digital nomads may apply for permanent residency.
With a fairly quick application process, digital nomads can live throughout the mainland of Greece or the more than 200 islands in the Mediterranean Sea.

What Documents Do I Need to Apply for the Greece Digital Nomad Visa?
Below is a general list of required Greece digital nomad visa documents you’ll need to present when applying. Remember, every application is different, so getting a tailored list of documents from an immigration lawyer is extremely helpful!
Important: All documents must be less than six months old at the time of submitting your application!
1. Valid Passport
You must present your passport that shows it is valid for the duration of your stay in Greece.
When applying, you may be asked to leave your passport at the Greek consulate while the application processes. Don’t worry, though, this only takes about ten business days.
2. Passport Photos
You must also include passport-sized photos that meet the Schengen visa photo requirements and be no older than six months.
3. Remote Work Contracts
To prove that you work remotely, you must also submit remote work contracts with your Greece digital nomad visa application.
These can be employee or freelance contracts. However, they should state that you may work remotely 100% of the time.
For business owners, proof of remote work may include documents of where the business was established and a letter proving the type of work conducted.
4. Bank Statements and/or Payslips
To prove that you meet the minimum income requirement, you must present at least three months of bank statements and/or payslips showing your monthly salary.
Remember, the minimum income requirement is net. So, the government needs to see at least 3,500€ (or the equivalent currency) deposited into your accounts each month from your remote work.
5. Certified Criminal Background Check
This is one of the Greece digital nomad visa documents that may not be required for every application.
If applying for the visa through a Greek consulate or embassy in your country of residence, then you must submit a certified criminal background check. For US criminal background checks, check out Apostille USA for fast-track certification of yoru document.
However, if you are applying from Greece as a tourist, then the criminal background check is not required.
6. International Health Insurance Policy
No matter how you apply, proof of an international health insurance policy with coverage in Greece for the duration of your stay is one of the required documents.
Nomads Embassy has partnered with Genki and Safetywing to provide our members with comprehensive international health insurance policies that cover routine and emergency medical care worldwide.
7. Medical Certificate of Good Health
Before submitting your Greece digital nomad visa documents and application, you must visit your primary care doctor for a routine physical checkup. During this appointment, your doctor must complete and sign the required medical certificate provided by the Greek government.
This certificate proves that you are in good and stable health.
8. Address of Accommodations in Greece
Just as you would plan any other trip to Greece, you’ll have to reserve accommodations ahead of your arrival. The same is required when applying for a digital nomad visa.
We recommend reserving a place for at least a month when applying for the visa. This can be a short-term rental, hotel room, or even a lease with a landlord.
Check out our recommended digital nomad accommodations partners to find a compliant reservation.
9. Travel Reservations
If you decide to apply for the 12-month visa in your country of residence, then you must submit your travel reservations to Greece.
We recommend booking changeable or refundable flights just in case there are delays or a refusal of your application.
10. Proof of Relationship (if applicable)
When applying with a spouse or dependent children, you must submit proof of relationship to them. This includes a marriage certificate, birth certificate, or adoption certificate.
These documents must be certified with an apostille or by the Greek consulate if the issuing country is not part of the Hague Convention.
Do I Have to Translate My Greece Digital Nomad Visa Documents?
Applicants may submit their documents in either Greek or English. If the documents are originally in another language, then they must be translated by a certified translator into either Greek or English.
What Documents Require an Apostille or Notarization?
Documents that are issued by your country’s government, such as a criminal background check and proof of relationship must have an apostille or notarization to be authorized for use in a foreign country.
Additional documents may require certification, but this will depend on the Greek consulate where you submit your application.
