It’s no secret that digital nomads are drawn to go Down Under and visit Australia. Before traveling to the other side of the world, though, it’s important to know about the Australia digital nomad visa options to enter and stay in this gorgeous country.
Unfortunately, there is no official Australia digital nomad visa at this time. But that doesn’t stop remote workers from adding Australia to their digital nomad itinerary!
Before you start planning your trip to Australia, consider which of these Australia digital nomad visa options are right for your lifestyle. You may find out that you can stay longer than you initially thought!
Is there an Australia Digital Nomad Visa?
At this time, there is no official Australia digital nomad visa available.
Maybe in the future, the government will recognize the potential digital nomads have and the benefits they can bring to the country. But for now, there are other Australia visa options for digital nomads.
Australia Visa Options for Digital Nomads
There are currently five Australia digital nomad visa options for remote workers to take advantage of. Some even include participating in working at local businesses to truly experience life in Australia.
Visitor Visa
A Visitor Visa is for tourists who would like to visit Australia or visit family there. This visa can be valid for three, six, or 12 months. The visa’s length is up to the discretion of the immigration agent handling your application.
You may apply for an Onshore Visitor Visa while already in Australia too! This is perfect for those who are in the country with another type of visa that is expiring and would like to stay longer. The application and processing fee is $475 AUD.
Otherwise, you may apply for an Offshore Visitor Visa before entering Australia. The application and processing fee is $190 AUD.
To be eligible for a Visitor Visa, you must meet the stated health requirements, be of good character, and have proof of funds to support yourself during your stay.
Working Holiday Visa
For digital nomads who want a break from working on their computers all day and want to experience a part-time job in Australia, the Working Holiday visa may be for you.
This visa is valid for 12 months, and you may re-enter Australia multiple times. The visa also allows you to work part-time to support yourself in Australia or study for up to four months.
Additionally, if you work for three months in an approved Australian job, you may apply for a second Working Holiday visa.
The application and processing fee for the Working Holiday visa is $635 AUD.
To be eligible for the Working Holiday visa, you must meet the following requirements:
- You must be between the ages of 18 and 30
- You may apply until you are 35 years old if you are a citizen of France, Ireland, Denmark, Italy, Canada, or the UK
- You must have a passport from one of the following countries
- Belgium 🇧🇪
- Canada 🇨🇦
- Cyprus 🇨🇾
- Denmark 🇩🇰
- Estonia 🇪🇪
- Finland 🇫🇮
- France 🇫🇷

- You must have at least $5,000 AUD in your bank account, plus enough to purchase a flight to exit Australia
- Meet the health requirements
- Be of good character
- Have never had a visa revoked or denied
- Have never held a Working Holiday visa in Australia
It’s also important to note that visa applicants may not include family members. They must travel to Australia on their own for a Working Holiday visa.
Work and Holiday Visa
Similar to the Working Holiday visa, there is another Australia digital nomad visa option, a Work and Holiday visa.
This visa is also valid for 12 months and allows multiple entries into Australia.
You may perform short-term work in Australia to help you pay for your stay. You may also attend a university for up to four months with this visa.
If you wish to renew or apply for a second Work and Holiday visa, you must perform three months of work in an approved Australian job.
To be eligible for the Work and Holiday visa, you must meet the following requirements:
- You must be between the ages of 18 and 30
- You must have a passport from one of the following countries

Electronic Travel Authority (ETA)
Another Australia digital nomad visa option is the Electronic Travel Authority or ETA. This is perfect for digital nomads who want to stay in Australia for a short amount of time.
This visa is valid for three months and you must apply for it before entering the country.
You may apply for this entry visa online. The fee is just $20 AUD.

If you would like the option to visit Australia multiple times throughout the year, but stay for no longer than three months, then the eVisitor Visa may be right for your digital nomad journey.
It is free to apply for the visa and can be done online. However, you must apply for it before entering the country.
