How to Apply for the Georgia Digital Nomad Visa
IMPORTANT: Please note that the Remote from Georgia program is no longer active. Citizens from 95 countries can stay in Georgia visa-free for 365 days.
Georgia has long been a digital nomad hub attracting young freelancers and entrepreneurs to take advantage of the country’s beauty, friendliness, and affordable prices. Now with the Georgia digital nomad visa, you can take advantage of even more benefits.
While Georgia offers a visa-free stay to many countries for 365 days, you may be wondering why you should apply for their digital nomad visa, also known as Remotely from Georgia. Why go through all of this paperwork for no reason?
There are a few benefits to consider when you apply for the Georgia digital nomad visa. Firstly, it ensures that you can stay in the country for the entire year.
You will be registered as a resident in Georgia and can sign up for local healthcare. Holding the visa can make you feel like less of a tourist and more like a digital nomad who lives in Georgia, creating a feeling of “home.”
And the best advantage is that you can become a tax resident when you stay in Georgia for at least 180 days during the year. This means if you make less than $155,000 per year, you only pay 1% in taxes.
Applying for the Georgia digital nomad visa is extremely easy as well. It takes less than two weeks and is done entirely online.
In this article, we’ll go over the requirements and steps to apply for the Georgia digital nomad visa and why it’s such a great country for digital nomads.
What is a Digital Nomad Visa?
A digital nomad visa allows remote workers to live in a foreign country for an extended period of time.
Freelancers, employees, and business owners can work from their laptops while living in a different country and receive a residence permit with a digital nomad visa.
It’s important to note that the visa holder may not partake in economic activities, such as getting a client or job within the country they’re living.
These visas are perfect for digital nomads who want to settle down abroad for a bit and really get to know a destination.
Georgia Digital Nomad Visa Requirements
There is a fairly short list of requirements to be eligible for the Georgia digital nomad visa.
- Valid Passport – Your passport must be valid upon applying for the visa
- Income of $2,000/Month or $24,000 in Savings – If you don’t have consistent income, you may show that your savings equal the mentioned amount in any currency
- Proof of Remote Work – You must prove that you’re a freelancer, employee, or business owner established outside of Georgia
- Proof of Health Insurance – You must have health insurance coverage for at least six months
And that’s it!
You may apply with a family member or spouse who does not have to meet the income requirements. However, they will have to meet the other requirements.
