Croatia Digital Nomad Visa Updates in 2025

Croatia’s Ministry of the Interior recently published Croatia digital nomad visa updates for 2025.

Increased Maximum Stay

Originally, Croatia’s digital nomad visa allowed for a maximum stay of 12 months in the country.

As of 2025, the maximum stay has increased to 18 months with the new Croatia digital nomad visa updates. This means applicants can now request a valid with 18-month validity.

If applicants are granted a 12-month digital nomad visa, it is possible to request a six-month extension, provided the request is submitted at least 60 days before the initial visa expires.

Once the visa expires, it is required to leave Croatia for at least six months before reapplying for a digital nomad visa.

Increased Income Requirement

To stay aligned with the country’s legal minimum wage, one of the Croatia digital nomad visa updates is an increase in the income requirement.

As of May 2025, to be eligible for Croatia’s digital nomad visa, applicants must earn at least 3,295€ per month. If they wish to include a spouse, unmarried partner, or minor dependents, this increases by 10% per family member.

Another option is to show bank savings.

For a 12-month visa, the applicant must show at least 39,540€ in their bank account for the last year.

For an 18-month stay, the applicant must show at least 59,310€ in their bank account for the last year.

Financial Proof Documentation

Previously, applicants had to show a minimum of three months of bank statements to prove their monthly income.

As of 2025, this has increased to six months of bank statements or pay slips to prove their monthly income.

When proving savings in place of the monthly income, applicants must submit at least 12 months of bank statements.

What is the Croatia Digital Nomad Visa?

Croatia’s digital nomad visa was first launched in February 2021 and was one of the very first countries to officially invite remote workers to temporarily live abroad.

Croatia paved the path for more than 18 European countries to welcome digital nomads with welcome arms.

What’s unique about the Croatia digital nomad visa is that it is non-renewable and allows remote workers to stay in the country without becoming a tax resident.

It also allows applicants to submit their applications online or in person as a tourist in Croatia if they can enter the country visa-free. However, if applicants need an entry visa, they must submit their application to a Croatian embassy or consulate.
