Indonesia Digital Nomad Visa: How to Apply [3 Steps]

Last Updated on 23 September 2024 by Brittany

Indonesia, especially Bali, has been a long-time favorite digital nomad destination. Now, remote workers are offically welcomed with the new Indonesia digital nomad visa

Officially known as the Remote Worker Visa (E33G) Program, the visa was launched in April 2024.

While there was talk about creating a visa specifically for digital nomads back in 2021, these plans were put on hold due to rising cases from the pandemic. Now that we are seeing the light at the end of this very long tunnel, Indonesia is back on track to attracting even more digital nomads to the country.

Originally, the Indonesia digital nomad visa was going to be valid for five years, but has now been reduced to validity of one year with an opportunity to renew it for a second year.

The Directorate General of Immigration still has to approve the Dependent Visa for the Remote Worker Visa that allows applicants to include family members. We will update this article when information is released.

Indonesia is already a popular hotspot amongst digital nomads, who are most likely there on the B211A Business visa.

The government is still fine-tuning the details about the visa. We will update this article as they release more information.

What is a Digital Nomad Visa?

If you are new to the idea of working remotely while traveling, you may be wondering, what is a digital nomad visa?

A digital nomad visa allows remote workers to claim temporary residence in a foreign country.

The applicant must work remotely for a company, clients, or own a business outside of the country where they wish to obtain a digital nomad visa.

It’s important to note that a digital nomad visa does not entitle the holder to search for employment opportunities in that country.

These digital nomad visas are great for those who want to settle down for a year or two and truly get to know a place while working remotely.
